Overview
The Wimmera Plains Energy Facility is a proposed wind farm and battery project located approximately 15km north-east of Horsham in Western Victoria.
The facility will feature up to 110MW of wind generation alongside a battery system up 50MW/200MWh, designed to provide affordable, reliable, and clean electricity to Victorian homes and businesses.
Project background
The project includes a proposed wind farm and battery to be located around 15km north-east of Horsham, adjacent to the Jung township in western Victoria.
It has numerous connection options, including the existing 220kV transmission line between Murra Warra and Horsham Terminal Station, and the 22kV and future 66kV distribution lines, all of which are located within the project area.
Pending approval, the project will be delivered through head contractors overseeing the Balance of Plant (BoP) and Turbine Supply and Installation (TSI). The facility is expected to generate valuable local employment during both the construction and operational phases, benefiting the immediate site and the wider region.
