Supporting our community and neighbours
The Wimmera Plains Energy Facility includes a range of benefit-sharing programs for the local community as well as direct financial support for local neighbours.
BayWa r.e. is committed to sharing the benefits of the Wimmera Plains Energy Facility with local people. We do this through local sponsorships and events, involvement in the Wimmera Southern Mallee Development group.
The project includes an annual community benefit fund and direct payments to neighbours through the neighbour benefit sharing program.
BayWa r.e. recognises the Wotjobaluk, Jaadwa, Jadawadjali, Wergaia and Jupagulk people as the Traditional Owners of the Wimmera region. We recognise their continuing connection to lands, waters and communities. We are working with the Barengi Gadjin Land Council (BGLC) as the representative body of the areas’ Traditional Owners.
Sponsorships and events
BayWa r.e. is proud to have sponsored the Western Victorian Careers Expo (Wimmera Careers Day) in 2024 and 2025. Since its inception in 1986, this important regional event has provided a one-stop-shop of vocational information to Western Victorian students, school leavers, job seekers, career changers, those returning to work and people considering further study or training.
