Supporting our neighbours
The Wimmera Plains Energy Facility offers direct financial support to near neighbours through the neighbour benefit sharing program.
About the program
Eligible neighbours in the communities surrounding the Wimmera Plains Energy Facility can receive payment by participating in the neighbour benefit sharing program. The program shares the financial benefits of the wind farm with neighbours.
The Program is available for all eligible dwellings within 3.6km of the closest turbine. Payment amounts depend on the distance between neighbouring properties and the location of the proposed wind turbines.
The neighbour benefit sharing program payments includes:
Proximity Grade 1: For dwellings within 2km of a turbine, excluding host properties. Each dwelling owner will receive $1,500 per turbine per year, within 2km of the dwelling.
Proximity Grade 2: For dwellings up to 3.6km from a turbine, excluding host properties. Each dwelling will receive a one-off payment of $8,000.
Participation is optional. Dwellings within 2km of a turbine (proximity grade one) are eligible for both payment types.
Payments will commence at start of construction and will be indexed to CPI.
Next steps
The Wimmera Plains Energy Facility team will work with neighbours in 2026. Payments will start at time of construction and we will update this website with further detail. Please contact us if you have any questions.
Are you a project neighbour?
If you’re a project neighbour, think you are eligible and would like to participate, please complete an Expression of Interest form and email it to info(at)baywa-re.com. Involvement in the neighbourhood benefit sharing program is entirely optional.
