Project background

The Bullawah Wind Farm is a proposed wind farm and battery project to be built in the Riverina region of New South Wales. It will generate wind energy to provide affordable and reliable electricity for homes and businesses.

The energy facility will include the construction of a wind farm and integrated battery project and will operate alongside existing agricultural activities. The project is located around 40km south of Hay in New South Wales.

This development is well underway, with scoping reports and Environmental Impact Statements complete. Should the project be approved, construction will commence in 2026.

2021

Project commenced with early landholder and stakeholder engagement.

2022

Environmental and social studies undertaken in and around the site, Bullawah Scoping Report completed in late 2022.

2023

Preparation of Bullawah Wind Farm Standard Secretary's Environmental Assessment Requirements (SEARs) and Environmental Impact Statement, ongoing stakeholder and community engagement (SEARS available on NSW Government website).

2024

Submission of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and tender for access to the South West Renewable Energy Zone, ongoing stakeholder and community engagement.

2025

Responding to EIS submissions, continuing to progress development work, working with local suppliers and businesses on procurement, working towards project construction.

2026

If approvals are granted, construction commences.

Operations will run for 30 years.
