The Timboon West Wind Farm is a two-turbine wind farm approximately 7 km south-west of Timboon in south-western Victoria, and only 20 minutes by road from our Ferguson project. The wind farm will have a capacity of 7.2 MW and will connect to the existing 22 kV electricity network in the area. The two 3.6 MW turbines will produce the equivalent energy usage of around 4,500 households.
The planning application was lodged with the Minister for Planning in August 2016, and was assessed against the Policy and Planning Guidelines for the Development of Wind Energy Facilities in Victoria. Following the assessment by the Department, the Minister issued Planning Permit No PA1600131 on 28 April 2017 to Timboon West Wind Farm Pty Ltd.
The construction of the wind farm begun in March 2018 and will comprise three phases taking 6-9 months in total.
The phases are:
1. Construction of the access tracks, construction pads, foundations and underground cabling.
2. Delivery and installation of the turbines using specialised cranes with highly skilled operators.
3. Commissioning, testing and connecting the wind farm to the local electricity grid so that the export of energy can begin.
